Welcome to a new Tri Season for 2009. Things are really starting to move for the club with the start of daylight
savings time. The Monday nights runs in Panorama and Wednesday night brick workouts have started again as well as just more
training with the better weather.
Conroe
Triathletes is mostly age groupers that train and race together. Other than swimming Masters with our Coach Kim Hanson
at the Rec Center we do not have any formal coaching. A couple of our members have been racing for 20+ years and most coaching
comes from their experience. In general we are a fun group than push and motivate each other every time any of us are together.
We almost always put a few people in the top 5 of their age group at any sprint race. Two of our members usually win their
age groups out right and the rest of us will pop up into the hardware every once in while.

We have a wide range of ages and speeds. Most
of the group is over 40 but we have a few 30 year olds and even a couple of twenty something’s. We are mostly guys but
we have a few girls that hang with us all the time. When we bike together we have people that ride 22mph+ all the way down
to 15 mph. We make sure that nobody gets left on the side of road regardless of how fast they ride.
On Wednesdays we do a brick of 18-24 miles on the bike then a 1.5 – 2.5 mile
run. The bike route is an out and back so you can go longer or shorter than that if you like. The route starts near New Waverly
and run north along the I-45 access road towards Huntsville. The ride announcements will have directions.
We
ride on Sunday mornings before church and then some of us will run if time permits. We ride from New Waverly along the same
route as the Wednesday night ride.
If you want to just come out and ride with us some time you are
more than welcome. You can always call Stuart at 936-537-0646 for more information or email us at conroetriathletes@flex.net.
If you want to come ride with us let us know and we will get you a cell
phone number for someone who we know will be riding, that way if you get lost finding the start the first time or are
running late you can call and we can direct you or wait until you get there.
Call Stuart with any
questions or just let him know when you would like to come out for a ride. You can always come swim a Masters work out
and meet at least a few of us on any given night.
